Momentum Massage Therapy
Registered Massage Therapy

Do I need to leave a gratuity?

by Bruce Jackson, Registered Massage Therapist on May 16, 2007

While some massage therapists accept tips – we do not.

At Momentum Massage Therapy, massage therapy is viewed as a medical therapy and do not feel that tips are appropriate.

If the treatments help then take couple of extra business cards and spread the word! You will help me and someone you care about.

The College of Massage Therapists does not have a specific policy against accepting tips. However, it recently made its position against RMTs accepting tips clear.

The College is working with other provincial associations toward a future where massage therapy is regulated across Canada, with national competency standards, and is a respected and valued provider of safe and effective healthcare to all Canadians. Accepting tips is not in keeping with this vision.
