Think positive. Reduce stress.

by Bruce Jackson, Registered Massage Therapist on June 3, 2007

Stress is part of our lives. How it affects us is partially up to us – according to a recent article by the Mayo Clinic. In their article on positive thinking, the Mayo Clinic suggests that by looking at the world in a more positive way we may experience the following health benefits.

  • Decreased negative stress
  • Greater resistance to catching the common cold
  • A sense of well-being and improved health
  • Reduced risk of coronary artery disease
  • Easier breathing if you have certain lung diseases, such as emphysema
  • Improved coping ability for women with high-risk pregnancies
  • Better coping skills during hardships
  • (Source: Mayo Clinic: Positive thinking: Practice this stress management skill. Access June 2, 2007)

The article also suggests some specific examples to help us in starting to use more positive thinking in our daily lives. Take a few minutes today to read this article.
